I have heard that Google will kick your website out of its search engine if you do cross-linking. Where you own different domain names and then link them to each other to boost pagerank.
I have a new website, and I want to put a one way link from the old one to the new one. Both are different domain names, and I own them both. I don’t want any trouble with Google though.
Any suggestions from an SEO person?
Google won’t penalize you for something like this as long as it isn’t excessive. If you are talking about cross linking 2 or 3 domains that are related businesses then you are ok. If you were talking about dozens of sites then you’d have to look at hosting them with different web hostings. The thing is, are you asking whether you should cross link the old site to the new site. Do you mean that you are migrating your content to the new site and eliminating the old one? If this is the case, then you should consider setting up a 301 redirect.
